Longboxes.com - R.I.P.

June 19, 2008

I killed my other site today.  Longboxes.com is no longer.  I was using this domain to sell off my extra comic books, but I really had no luck.  I still have many longboxes full of stuff to get rid of.  If you want to make a purchase, just let me know.  Thanks.

I didn’t find time to work on my latest round of “Piss Poor Portraits” this weekend, but I work on this piece I call “Two”. It is ink on paper, on oil. Measuring 1o inches by 14 inches, it can be yours for a price. Email me at SenselessBabble@Gmail.com to make me an offer. Thank you for your patronage!

Books For Sale

March 14, 2008

Time to do some shilling. — Back in the heady days of our college career, both my wife and I worked in bookstores. Rival bookstores across the street from one another, not the same one. Anyway, during that time, we both collected many tomes, tract, & treatises.  So many, that when we bought our house, we specifically looked for one with an extra room to be our library.

Jump ahead ten years and two children later, and the books have become dusty and unread.  They seemed to be a snap shot of our life years ago.  They also seemed to be taking up a lot of space.  Space that was needed for the kids and their ever growing pile of junk,  Sorry, I mean toys.

So, we decided to sort through the books, weed out much of the dead wood, keep what we loved, and sell the rest.  So for the past 14 months, we have been selling our books on Half.com, a sister site of eBay.  Every week, I wrap up a selection of titles and send them onto their new homes.  We’ve done pretty good too.  We have made enough to refurbish the library, or as we now call it, the “play room”.  We also collected enough coins to take a family trip during the holidays (stayed at a fancy inn even!).  Plus, I have been able to pay some bills too.

We started out with about 3000 books for sale.  We now have about 650 left.  And the sales have started to drop off.  And that is why I am writing about this now.  In the hopes to spark sales.  So, if your a bibliophile like we are, please take a look at my Half.com page.   I have 100% positive feedback on eBay/Half, so you can be assured you will be getting a good book, quickly, and at a good price.  Please take a look!  I greatly appreciate your business!

Comic Books

November 5, 2007

Instead of spending the day coming up with something witty to say, I spent it working on my other site, LONGBOXES.com. While making a few dollars is one of the things I want to do on this site, so I can get a new computer, over on LONGBOXES.com, I am selling off part of my comic book collection so I can pay off my student loan. If you’ve some how stumbled onto this site, please stumble over to LONGBOXES.com as well. Thank you.

Piss Poor Portraits

November 2, 2007

Darth Vader
Originally uploaded by senseless.babble

Not only am I a bad blogger, I am also a bad artist. Here are some of my recent creations, all part of a series of works I am creating which I call “Piss Poor Portraits”.

First up, an older piece, because I am such a Star Wars geek, a piece simply titles “Darth Vader”. Oil, from 1994. I painted this piece without reference material, just to see if I could. To test my inner nerd, if you will. (and my inner nerd is more often then not my outer nerd, as you will soon learn if you continue to check back on this site!)

Cory, number 1

Second in my “Piss Poor Portraits” series, another oil piece. I call it “Cory, number 1″ - Notice the brush strokes on the face. Very interesting, are they not? (Wait, don’t answer that!)

Tay, unfinished
Originally uploaded by senseless.babble

And finally, a piece I call “Tay, unfinished”. I call it “unfinished” because the white back ground is simply raw paper. This piece was created with pencil, sharpie, crayola crayon, cay-pas oil sticks and watercolors. - And of course, all art seen on this page is one of a kind, and up for sale if you would like to make me an offer. - Check back again for more pieces in in this series of portraits that are so piss poor, that they are genius!
